    SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police say a drug deal gone bad left one man with critical injuries after being shot in northeast Spokane late Sunday night.  Police say dispatch received multiple calls of gunfire near Longfellow Road and Florida Street. At the same time, nearly two miles away, police received a call of a man who had been shot near Francis and Market.

    WEST POINT, N.Y. (AP) - Two Army captains who met at West Point have returned there to be married, in what is believed to be the first same-sex marriage of active-duty personnel at the storied New York military academy.    The New York Times reports Captains Daniel Hall and Vincent Franchino were married on Jan. 13. They're both Apache helicopter pilots stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas.

    CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) - An Idaho inmate claims authorities illegally prevented him from posting bond because of his citizenship status.    The Idaho Statesman reports Senobio Padilla-Arredondo, in a lawsuit filed Friday, says he was arrested on Jan. 22, 2016, charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence, and his bond was set at $1,250.

    Congress has approved a bipartisan agreement to re-open the federal government after a three-day partial shutdown.    The House approved the bill, 266-150, hours after the Senate backed it, 81-18. President Donald Trump is expected to quickly sign the measure to fund government operations through Feb. 8.

    POST FALLS, Idaho - A Post Falls man has been sentenced to serve up to eight years in prison for his seventh DUI conviction.  The Kootenai County Prosecutor's Office says last June 53-year-old Vincent D. Smith rear-ended a car stopped at a traffic light in Post Falls, then fled the scene. He was later arrested and refused to take a breath test, but a search warrant for blood was obtained and showed Smith's blood alcohol content was .28.
