SPOKANE, Wash. -

The westbound lanes of I-90 were shut down near Liberty Lake after a fatal crash Thursday morning.

The Washington State Patrol says a sweeper truck heading westbound was changing lanes and hit a silver 2004 Chevy Tracker, causing the SUV to hit the concrete barrier in the median. The SUV then climbed the barrier and hit the overpass. Troopers say as the SUV was airborne, it was hit by another car. The driver of the SUV, 71-year-old Laura Lafferty of Rathdrum, was killed in the crash. Troopers say she was not wearing a seatbelt.

Her passenger, 50-year-old Richard Lafferty, was also injured in the crash and taken to a Spokane hospital.

The driver of the sweeper truck and the other care were not injured in the crash.

Troopers say they are still investigating and charges are pending the outcome of that investigation.
