SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -

"God bless you and your dog. Your dog is a bad ______." You can fill in the blank there because it was an expletive, but a 35-year-old fugitive had to tip his hat to the K9 who found him hiding in an old car Sunday morning.

Sheriff's Deputies were called to a home on S. Craig Road near Fairchild Sunday morning after learning fugitive Timmothy Lafontaine was at a home in the area. Deputies learned Lafontaine was high, possibly armed with a knife and had a felony DOC warrant for his arrest. Once on scene, Lafontaine was nowhere to be found, so Deputy Kullman and K9 Khan were called to the scene to help find him.

K9 Khan searched high and low around the property when suddenly Khan's ears perked up near an abandoned car. Khan began barking at the car and then jumped in through an open driver's window and found Lafontaine hiding in the trunk of the car under some junk.

Once Khan was on him, Lafontaine complied with commands and was taken into custody. Deputies also found a bag of meth.

Despite being in handcuffs, Lafontaine seemed to have nothing but respect for the dog who brought him down. Deputies say Lafontaine praised Khan for the "phenomenal job" Khan did in finding him.

"God bless you and your dog. Your dog is a bad _____," Lafontaine said, according to deputies.

Lafontaine received medical attention before being transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for the felony DOC warrant and new charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine and Obstructing Law Enforcement.
