YAKIMA, Wash. -

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, 34-year-old Angel Jose Rangel was sentenced Thursday to 100 months in prison after having previously plead guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The court documents say that Rangel and two others entered a bar in Yakima, dressed in a color blue that the security officers recognized to be associated with the Sureno street gang. The court documents also state that the men approached another group of men dressed in red, a color associated with the Norteno street gang.

The Department of Justice says that shortly thereafter, the men left the bar to fight in the parking lot. Security guards rushed outside to put a stop to it. After losing the fight, Rangel reportedly ran to his vehicle and grabbed a firearm, then began waving it and yelling explicit language at those nearby.

Security guards say they convinced Rangel not to shoot anyone.

When Yakima police officers arrived on the scene, they reviewed the video surveillance footage and identified that Rangel was a high ranking member of the Sureno gang.

A few hour later, the YPD says they responded to a second bar fight and found Rangel seated in a vehicle.

The YPD arrested him for a community supervision violation.
