Spokane bystanders help man being robbed at knifepoint

SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane police are investigating a robbery and stabbing that happened Wednesday afternoon

Officers responded to the area of 1400 W. 2nd after a couple of people called and reported two men were fighting, and one of them had a knife. People in the area grabbed on to the knife-wielding man and held him down until police arrived. When officers made it to the scene they took 30-year-old Jeffery E. Bush into custody.

The victim told police he was walking down the street when Bush approached him with a knife in hand and tried to rob him. The man tried to fend Bush off, and in trying to keep Bush away, got a deep cut on his hand that will require stitches. The victim told police several people came to help him during the scuffle.

Bush was booked into jail on charges of first degree robbery and first degree assault.
