How much will it cost to head to the Holiday Bowl?

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

Sunday afternoon it was announced that the Washington State University Cougars will face of against the Minnesota Golden Gophers in National Funding Holiday Bowl scheduled for December 27 at 4 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium in beautiful San Diego, California.

Are you planning a post-Christmas trip to support the home team? We did a little quick research to figure out how much it would cost for travel, tickets and a hotel room.

As of Sunday afternoon, tickets are available for anywhere from $70-$145 depending on where you sit in the stadium. Now that both teams have been announced, seats are going fast. Tickets are available via TicketMaster

The website cost2drive.com helps you figure out how much it would cost to take a road trip. It's calculated after you input the kind of car you have, and how many people are making the trip. For the purposes of our research, I used one person travelling from the KHQ building to Qualcomm Stadium in a 2000 Toyota Camry and came up with the low, low price of $122.74. You can plan your trip here: http://beta.costtodrive.com/.

Is flying more your style? A quick Google search of flights from Spokane to San Diego yields a number of results. For roundtrip flights leaving Spokane the day before and returning Saturday, Dec. 31, can set you back anywhere from $545 to $1,017. Much like with game tickets, the sooner you book, the easier it is on your wallet.

Finally, there's the question of lodging. Again, for the purposes of this research we checked in on December 26 and checked out on December 31. According to Trip Advisor, rooms can cost you anywhere from $69 a night all the way up to $395 a night, depending on how fancy you're looking to get. Meanwhile, AirBnB, the website that allows you to stay in homes, rooms or couches, says a trip for those dates has an average cost of about $155.

Additional info about what awaits you in San Diego can be found here: http://www.sandiegobowlgames.com/tickets/holiday-bowl-tickets/

If you're not looking to crack open your wallet and treat yourself to a little holiday getaway, you can always stay home and watch on TV. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
