Death threat disrupts classes at Lake City High School in Coeur d'Alene

Posted: Updated:
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

The halls of Lake City High School, usually bustling with students, were quiet Monday.

According to the Coeur d’Alene School District, a quarter of the over 1500 students enrolled stayed home.

"I've been communicating with everyone who's been contacting us,” Lake City High School Principal Deanne Clifford said.

Police say a student received a threat saying that she was going to be shot at school Monday because she didn’t send nude photos to an anonymous person.

The district says the threat came via Snapchat.

Principal Clifford says the school is on high alert.

“We've had an additional police presence, we have all our doors locked, our classroom doors are locked, and our P.E. classes are staying inside,” she said.

Clifford says she was answering phones and responding to emails from parents of students concerned about the threat.

She also gave high praise to her secretary staff.

“Our secretaries have been doing an amazing job making sure that everyone feels safe and sending students home if parents choose to do that,” Clifford said.

Clifford added this was the second threat made at the school in the last few days.

The first one happened last Friday before Lake City’s football game, but that situation was taken care of quickly.

Anyone with information regarding the most recent threat is urged to call the Coeur d’Alene Police Department.
