One person dead after crash at Havana and 8th in Spokane Valley

SPOKANE, Wash. -

One person was killed in a crash near Havana and 8th Wednesday morning. 

The Sheriff's Office says people called 911 just before 9:00 a.m. to report a car speeding on 8th Avenue. Deputies say the car then cross over into the eastbound land and into a deep ditch on the south side of 8th near Havana. 

Multiple agencies responded, and the sole occupant of the car, an unidentified man, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The area of 8th and Havana will be closed until mid-afternoon while the Spokane Valley Traffic Unit investigates. 

At this time, investigators do not know what occurred prior to this crash or what caused the driver to leave the roadway.  Anyone who witnessed the crash, or may have information regarding what occurred prior to it, is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233, reference #10136998.
