500 vehicle owners in Spokane County given the wrong registration tabs

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. -

Spokane County officials say within the past week, 500 vehicle owners in the county were given incorrect tabs along with the registration renewal. Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton said new registration and the correct matching tabs were mailed on Wednesday.

The error was reportedly caused by an oversight when the wrong inventory of tabs that did not match renewing registration were pulled.

So what should you do if you're one of the 500?

When the corrected registration and match tab arrives, immediately replace the new registration in the vehicle and place the correct tab on the vehicle's back license plate. If the incorrect tab is already on your car, put the correct tab over it. If the incorrect tab is not on your car, put the correct tab on and contact the Auditor's office to return the bad tab. They can be reached at 509-477-2222.

Officials say It is important that tabs and registration correspond to the issued specific vehicle. These incorrect tabs cannot be used on another vehicle. Vehicle owners should immediately place the correct tab on the correct vehicle as soon as the letter arrives.
