MARSHFIELD, Wisc. -

A man who got trapped inside a Wisconsin convenience store cooler Tuesday night turned his evening into quite the party.

According to WISN, 38-year-old Jeremy Van Ert stopped into a Kwik Trip store in Marshfield, Wisconsin to buy beer just before the midnight cutoff for alcohol sales.

As he went into the store's cooler to retrieve his alcoholic beverage of choice, the door closed behind him. The clock struck midnight, and Van Ert found himself locked inside.

Van Ert reportedly decided to down three cans of Four Loko and an 18-ounce can of Icehouse beer while locked inside the store's cooler.

While he was enjoying his private party, he wasn't actually trapped.

The Kwik Trip store operates 24 hours a day and according to police, all he needed to do was knock on the cooler's glass door to get the attention of a store clerk to help him out.

After Van Ert's six hour adventure, another customer spotted him and alerted employees.

Employees say they opened the door for him, and Van Ert left without paying for his drinks.

Police say that he tried to run, but was eventually arrested and charged with retail theft. WISN notes taht Van Ert also violated a probation hold requiring him to stay sober.
