Spokane Valley woman’s great-grandmothers ashes stolen during vehicle theft

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

Getting your car stolen is already traumatic, but for one Spokane Valley woman, getting the car back is the least of her worries.

It happened at the Village on Broadway apartment complex in Spokane Valley.

Harley Rahm got home from work at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, went to sleep, and her car was gone when she woke up at 9 a.m.

“It's going to be hard to go to work now since I don't have a car,” said Rahm.

While having her car stolen is a major disappointment, getting around is one of the last things on her mind.

That's because a pendant filled with her great-grandmothers ashes were hanging from the rearview mirror.

“It was a healing process to have her with me all the time,” said Rahm. “I'm just really devastated. I can't get another one. It's not replaceable. Everything else in the car is but not this.”

Rahm says she was close with her grandmother, who helped her so much in life.

“She supported me throughout my education, bought costumes, prom dresses,” said Rahm. “She did what every other grandma would do.”

Rahm says her car can be replaced. She just wants whoever took it to at least return the one thing that can't.

“I feel like a piece of me is missing and I don't know where I’m going to go from there,” said Rahm.

Rahm's car is a red 1993 Honda Accord. It's last known location was on Broadway near Pines. If you know anything that could help law enforcement locate it, call crime check.
