Latest election numbers reverses Spokane Valley mayoral race

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

New election numbers were released Wednesday afternoon by the Spokane County Elections office, and while most things remained similar to the Election night results, there was one notable change.

In Spokane Valley, the mayoral race between incumbent Rod Higgins and challenger Chris Jackson is extremely tight. On Tuesday night Chris Jackson was leading by 46 votes (5,053 vs. 5099).

But on Wednesday, the roles were reversed, with Rod Higgins in lead. It's still very close, now separated by only 29 votes (6,237 vs. 6,266).

So far 79,000 ballots have been counted, but there are still 20,000 ballots to go. The next ballot count will be Thursday night, and should give us a more clear idea of who's going to win.
