Ohio Highway Patrol makes $3.7M heroin, meth bust

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio -

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against a North Carolina woman after a traffic stop in Guernsey County on Wednesday. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 110 lbs of heroin and methamphetamine worth approximately $3,700,000.

Troopers stopped a rented Penske truck around 10:30 a.m. for following too closely on Interstate 70. Troopers were immediately suspicious and called in a drug-sniffing dog who alerted on the truck and a search revealed the drugs.

The driver was identified as 27-year-old Ashley N. Tramonte of Marion, North Carolina. She was booked into jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance and trafficking drugs, both first-degree felonies.

If convicted, she could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
