West Valley students create their own military-style drum cadence for Dan Kleckner's Golf Classic

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

The Dan Kleckner Golf Classic will once again be riding in the Lilac Festival's Armed Forces Torchlight Parade on Saturday, May 19. Dan will be riding with a banner which will be carried by two members of the Spokane County Young Marines: Justin Whitehill and Nate Oliver.

And this year there's a special added feature. West Valley students Morgan Tressal and Ikaika Vargas will be marching alongside the Dan Kleckner Golf Classic car. The two are marching with their school band later in the parade, and with Dan earlier in the route. They even composed their own military-style drum cadence. A big thank you to West Valley's band director Jim Loucks for allowing Morgan and Ikaika to play double-duty.

And registration is now open for Dan Kleckner's Golf Classic. This year's tournament at Downriver Golf Course is scheduled for August 10 and 11. You can find the sign-up information HERE.

If you can't play, but would like to sponsor a vet, we're hosting another Connect Center leading into Memorial Day weekend, on May 24 and 26. You'll be able to call in a donation then.

You can watch the Lilac Festival's Armed Forces Torchlight Parade on SWX starting at 7:30pm Saturday, May 19.
