Missing elderly man found safe in Spokane one week after disappearing from Post Falls

POST FALLS, Idaho -

UPDATE: June 7, 2018

One week after his disappearance, an elderly man with difficulties remembering information has been found safe in Spokane. 79-year-old Wesley B. Zumwalt went missing on the evening of May 31, and Kootenai County Sheriff's Office asked the public for help finding him. On Thursday, deputies reported that Zumwalt was found safe and is now with his family members.

Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help finding 79-year-old Wesley B. Zumwalt. Deputies say he has difficulties remembering information, reading and writing.

Zumwalt was last known to be west of Post Falls. He was last seen near the intersection of N. Corbin Rd. and W. Poleline Ave. at approximately 5:30 p.m. on May 31.

He was last seen wearing a white checkered button down shirt, blue jeans, and hiking boots. He is believed to be on foot.

Deputies along with search and rescue members are still actively searching the area. Deputies ask residents who live in the area to check their properties as it is farm land/open fields and hard to see from the main roads. Search members are being assisted by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Unmanned Aerial Support Unit and the Spokane County Sheriff’s Regional Air Support, Air 1.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking that if you have seen him, to call 208-446-1300.
