Sentencing put on hold for former Coeur d'Alene Eagles president charged with sex crime

Posted: Updated:
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -

Sentencing was abruptly put on hold for a former Coeur d'Alene Eagles president who plead guilty for trying to entice who he thought was a child over the internet.

In a rather quick hearing, Ronald Nold appeared in an orange prison jumpsuit.

A stark contrast from a March first appearance where prosecutors say Nold attempted to take his life before a pre-trial conference.
Nold was arrested last summer in a child sex-sting.

Court documents say Nold responded to a Craigslist ad for who he thought was a 15 year old boy.

Nold pleaded guilty in April to felony enticing a child over the internet.

Tuesday was Nold's sentencing hearing, but Nold's attorney told Judge John Mitchell that a psycho-sexual evaluation had not been completed prior to sentencing.

"It would seem to me that given these charges and his history that that would be an important diagnostic or informational tool," Nold's attorney, Scott Nass, said.

Nold has two prior sex offender convictions, one in Washington and one in Oregon.

Judge Mitchell granted a continuance and Nold will be sentenced July 24th, 2018.
