SACRAMENTO, Calif. -

There's road rage and then there's this.

Sacramento police say they arrested a 40-year-old man on felony charges of assault with the deadly weapon and vandalism after video shows him ramming his SUV into a parked car multiple times on Monday.

Officers say two vehicles got off Highway 50 Monday afternoon when one of the vehicles, a white SUV, began ramming a silver passenger car. The silver car left the area, but then the driver of the SUV turned his attention to a parked Honda CRV.

The SUV rammed the CRV multiples times, pushing it into the intersection. No one was in the CRV, but the ramming continued for several minutes. The driver, identified as Jose Garcia Alvarez, then got out of his SUV and jumped on the roof of the Honda, and began breaking out windows.

Officers are seen on the video arriving and waiting for Alvarez to calm down before taking him into custody.

“This individual was very violent and this obviously could have ended very differently,” Sacramento police Sgt. Vance Chandler said. “At the time of the arrest, our officers had information that he was potentially under the influence of narcotics.”

No one was hurt in the incident.
