Spokane mother frustrated nearly 8 years after daughter's disappearance

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

It's been nearly eight years since Heather Higgins vanished. Not a day has gone by her mother hasn't cried out for her daughter.

"I miss her everyday," Jackie Forney said. "I miss the mother daughter friendship that we had. I'll never see her have a family. She'll never get to be a journalist."

Heather disappeared back in September of 2010. Jackie says she got a ride from a friend of a friend. Police records show the mother of the man who gave her that ride, told them her son confessed to being involved in something terrible. Because he has never been charged in Heather's case, we are not naming him.

"He said, according to his mother, that he didn't kill her but dumped her body for the people who did," she said. "Dumped her body like a piece of garbage."

Records show the alleged dumping ground was a steep valley near a North Spokane ski resort.

"All I know is my girl is laying up there in the dirt and weeds," Jackie said.

But with no specific location, overwhelming is an understatement. She says police told her she could look herself.

"I thought, what if I find her? I don't think you send a parent out to send their own child," she said.

Records go on to state that a large knife and an ID belonging to Heather were found in the river, a few blocks from where the suspect was living. He is currently in jail for an unrelated vicious attack on a North Idaho woman.

Jackie is pleading with anyone with information to the right thing and help.

"I just want her home," she said.
