Shoshone police investigating mailbox explosion

SHOSHONE, Idaho -

Shoshone Police and Lincoln County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of N. Carmen St. for a report of a suspicious incident. When police arrived on scene, they learned that an explosive device had been placed in a mailbox and the device had already been detonated.

The Twin Falls Bomb Squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were contacted and are assisting with the investigation.

Shoshone Police say the area around the 300 block of N. Carmen was closed Wednesday afternoon while the investigation continues.

In a search warrant filed Nov. 8 in Spokane Superior Court, a detective wrote that around 2 a.m. on Nov. 4, police were called to a home in the 7800 block of North Morton Ave. after a woman said her partner shot himself in the head.
