Gonzaga Official: Chick-Fil-A not coming to Spokane

Posted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. -

UPDATE: The rumor that was quickly spread Saturday about a Chick-Fil-A franchise coming to Gonzaga University is false, according to a Gonzaga official.

Mary Joan Hahn, the Senior Director of Community & Public Relations at Gonzaga, tells KHQ that this information is inaccurate. She wasn't able to explain how the information got out in the first place, but Gonzaga is looking into it.

The rumor first got out Saturday evening when Chick-Fil-A's website listed a new location at Gonzaga on Boone Ave. that would be operated by Sodexo, the company that runs the Zag Dining service.

Chick-Fil-A, a national chain that is closed on Sundays, wasn't available for immediate comment on how the information got on their website.

Previous Coverage: A beloved fast-food chain well known for its chicken sandwiches and waffle fries across the nation appears to be coming to Spokane.

According to its website, Chick-Fil-A says a location is coming soon at Gonzaga University.

The location is listed as 502 E Boone Ave, Spokane, WA 99258. The website says the location will be operated by Sodexo, a company that runs the Zag Dining service at Gonzaga.

There are multiple locations in western Washington, but this would be the first Chick-Fil-A franchise on the east side of the state.

The closest location to the Spokane area is in Moscow, Idaho, in the food court at the University of Idaho.
