SPOKANE, Wash. - Eastern Washington is in the grip of an unusual heat wave that has temperatures in some places nearly 30 degrees above normal.

The National Weather Service says temperatures in the 90s are also raising fears that rapidly melting snow in the mountains will cause flooding. Pullman is expecting record highs of 98 on Wednesday and 95 on Thursday. Moses Lake is expecting record highs of 98 on Wednesday and 95 on Thursday. Wenatchee is expecting a record high of 96 on Wednesday. Omak is expecting record highs of 96 on Wednesday and 93 on Thursday. Highs are expected to fall back into the 70s by the weekend.
