Spokane temperatures to soar 30 degrees above normalPosted: Updated:
SPOKANE, Wash. - Eastern Washington is in the grip of an unusual heat wave that has temperatures in some places nearly 30 degrees above normal.
The National Weather Service says temperatures in the 90s are also raising fears that rapidly melting snow in the mountains will cause flooding. Spokane is forecast to reach a record 93 degrees on Wednesday, while the average high for this time of year is the mid-60s. Colville is expecting a record high of 97 on Wednesday. Pullman is expecting record highs of 98 on Wednesday and 95 on Thursday. Moses Lake is expecting record highs of 98 on Wednesday and 95 on Thursday. Wenatchee is expecting a record high of 96 on Wednesday. Omak is expecting record highs of 96 on Wednesday and 93 on Thursday. Highs are expected to fall back into the 70s by the weekend.
