Skilling: 'That's the way the system works'

Posted: Updated:

HOUSTON - Former Enron C-E-O Jeffrey Skilling says he's "obviously" disappointed, but "that's the way the system works."

Skilling was found guilty today on 19 of 28 counts in the Enron fraud and conspiracy trial. His co-defendant, Kenneth Lay, was convicted on all counts against him. Skilling's lawyer, Dan Petrocelli, says they "plan a full and vigorous appeal" and have "just begun to fight."

Prosecutors argued that Skilling and Lay repeatedly lied about the health of what was the country's seventh largest company before the energy trading giant fell apart in 2001.
