SEATTLE - Forecasters say the high temperatures should ease a bit today in western Washington, but near-record heat continues on the east side of the state.

The National Weather Service forecasts highs in the 70s and 80s in the Seattle area, and 90s and triple digits in eastern Washington.

A heat advisory is in effect in the Yakima valley until 8 p.m. Monday, and until Tuesday night for the lower Columbia basin.

The temperature hit a record 107 degrees in Yakima on Sunday - it's third day of temperatures over 100.
