Mental exam ordered for ClarettPosted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -
There's a new twist in the saga of one-time college football star Maurice Clarett (kluh-REHT'). He was arrested Wednesday after a police chase. But that happened even as the former Ohio State running back was due to go on trial next week on a separate robbery case. Now, a judge in Columbus, Ohio, is delaying the start of that trial from Monday until September. Instead of going to court,
Clarett will undergo a court-ordered mental health evaluation. The judge says that's in the best interests of protecting Clarett's rights.
Police say they found four loaded guns, including an assault rifle, after finally stopping Clarett this week. He's now being held on five (m) million dollars bond in that case, where he faces a weapons charge.
