Bush: $77 billion for recovery hopefully enough for nowPosted: Updated:
GULFPORT, Miss. - President Bush is talking about hope on the Gulf Coast. But on his 13th visit since Katrina, the president also suggests Washington may not be willing to send more than the $110 billion already approved for reconstruction. And he says full recovery may take years -- and "not months."
At the start of a two-day visit to the Gulf Coast, the president says the $77 billion already delivered to the states will "hopefully" be enough for now. He's also marveling at the clean-up in Katrina's battered path, saying those who haven't seen it can't imagine the changes over the past year.
After listening to the president's speech in Biloxi, Mississippi, one woman says it's clear the president hasn't forgotten about the storm victims. He's having dinner with officials in New Orleans and will make visits there tomorrow.
