Cougars pull out a 17-15 win over BaylorPosted: Updated:
SEATTLE Washington State quarterback Alex Brink caught a third-quarter touchdown pass and Loren Langley kicked a 17-yard field goal with nine seconds left, lifting Washington State to a 17 to 15 win over Baylor in Seattle.
The 13-point favored Cougars improved their record to 2 and 1. The Bears from Waco, Texas, fell to 1 and 2.
Trailing 15 to 14 with 5:04 left, Brink directed a 14-play, 81-yard drive for Langley's first field goal of the season. The junior was 0-for-2 previously.
Playing at Seattle's Qwest Field for the fifth straight year, the Cougars overcame a sloppy first half of dropped passes and turnovers, and relied on a defense that corralled Baylor's spread offense.
Next Saturday, the Cougars open their Pac-10 schedule at Stanford.
