Seahawks 24 - Rams 22
Final @ Qwest Field, Seattle
SEATTLE, Wash. - Kicker Josh Brown was the Seattle Seahawks' hero again today, kicking a 38-yard field goal with nine seconds left to give his team a 24 to 22 victory over the St. Louis Rams at Qwest Field.
By beating the Rams for the second time this season on a field goal by Brown, the NFC West-leading Seahawks improved their record to 6-3 for a two-game lead over St. Louis and San Francisco.
It was Brown's fifth game-winning field goal since October 2nd, 2005. On October 15th at St. Louis, Brown kicked a 54-yard field goal on the final play to give the Seahawks a 30 to 28 win over the Rams.
Brown wouldn't have gotten his chance to be a hero again without Nate Burleson's first Seattle heroics.
With the Seahawks held to only 10 total yards for over two quarters, Burleson ran a punt back 90 yards giving Seattle a 21-16 lead halfway through the fourth quarter. The return was the second-longest punt return in Seattle history and the Seahawks'first punt return for a score in three years.
Steven Jackson scored on a 14-yard touchdown run for a 22-21 lead for the Rams with ajust over two minutes left.
Seneca Wallace made his third NFL start at quarterback for the Seahawks for Matt Hasselbeck, ho is recovering from a sprained knee. He had two touchdown passes in the first half to Darrell Jackson and Jerramy Stevens.
The Seahawks visit San Francisco next Sunday to face the 49ers.
