Feds, Mattel recall 4.4 million Polly Pocket magnetic play sets
WASHINGTON - The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a major toy recall. 4.4 million Polly Pocket magnetic play sets are being recalled by Mattel after three children swallowed tiny magnets in the toys and had to undergo surgery.
The commission says it's received 170 reports of small magnets falling out of the dolls and accessories in the Polly Pocket sets.
The recall is for sets sold nationwide from May 2003 through September of this year. It also affects 2 million sets sold worldwide. Today's recall does not include sets currently on store shelves.
