Below are comments sent in by viewers about Dennis Erickson's decision to leave the University of Idaho for the head coaching job at Arizona State University:

I was absolutley stunned by Erickson's decision. Like what someone said when he told me the news here in Missoula, "So much for committment". When I heard that he took the job at Idaho last year I was very excited. Erickson is one of the best football minds in the country and having him come back to Moscow was a huge coup for the university. Granted I knew of his bolting Wyoming and Oregon State for "greener pastures", which is unfair to those teams. But his  comments once he was hired as the Vanadal coach reassured me that he knew that it would take some time to build up the Vandals and he could take them far into a bowl season with a winning record finally- -he did it at OSU. And he did say he was this stop was going to last. So how can someone do this and don't think about the adminstration, fans, players and even his family (they just barely got settled in at Moscow)? How can an athletic adminstration with the backing of the NCAA stop this "bolting" by coaches like Erickson? I would not want a coach to be forced to stay, but this is riduculus. He could have stayed, built the program up and hand it over like he did at OSU. There are always vacancies around the country evey season. Kinda makes you wonder if he'll stay at ASU because not to long ago he did say he still wants a another shot at the pros. We'll see. As a loyal follower of Dennis Erickson this hurts alot. - Rod Nixon, Missoula, MT

Good By Dennis, The media is making too big of a deal about it. He's not that great of a coach, Recalling how terrible he was in the NFL that he had to go back to college ball. - Deer Park, WA

Erickson came to the U of I and gave hope to the players, fans, and alumni. I have been going to the Vandal games with my grandparents since I was 2 years old. We all thought Erickson would bring success to the team. This is a major let down to all of us and I am very disappointed. - Lewiston, ID
