WSU's Bruce named Second Team All-American

Posted: Updated:

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State senior defensive end Mkristo Bruce has been named to the Associated Press All-America second team.

Bruce concluded his WSU career third on the career sacks list with 29-point-5 and tied for second in tackles-for-loss with 44-point-5. The Renton native capped his senior season by leading the Cougars with 11 sacks and 16 tackles for loss, to go with 67 tackles, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Bruce tied a Pac-10 record with five sacks at Stanford and led the nation in sacks for three consecutive weeks.

His totals dropped after injuries forced W-S-U coaches to go to a three-four defensive scheme at mid season. He was joined on the second team by fellow Pacific-10 Conference player Justin Hickman of UCLA.
