NEW YORK -The Gonzaga basketball team didn't fare so well in their second appearance Madison Square Garden this year. The Zags lost to Duke 61-54 in New York City Thursday night.
It didn't help that Gonzaga shot just 38 percent from the field, even though it was better than Duke's 35 percent shooting.
Jeremy Pargo led all scorers with 21. Greg Paulus led in scoring for the Blue Devils, scoring 20 points. The Zags' Derek Raivio was held to just 4 points, and Josh Heytvelt scored just 10.
Gonzaga could not avoid back-to-back losses for the first time since the 2002-2003 season. The Bulldogs lost to Stanford University 81-71 at the Pete Newell Challenge in Oakland, Calif., on Dec. 22, 2002, then fell at home 79-78 in overtime to Saint Joseph's University on Dec. 31, 2002.
