More than 3000 U.S. soldiers killed in IraqPosted: Updated:
BAGHDAD, Iraq - The Pentagon has announced the death of Texas soldier Dustin Donica, who was killed by small arms fire in Baghdad last week. According to the Associated Press, his death raises the number of U.S. military deaths in Iraq to at least 3000 since the war began.
Although, by Iraqi standards, this violent year in Iraq ended on what could be described as a quiet note. A dozen bodies were found dumped in Baghdad today, but by recent standards that's considered a small number.
It appears as though the bombers and assassins took the day off, even as Iraq saw longtime leader Saddam Hussein hanged. Besides the bodies in the capital, authorities say there were just 12 violent deaths across Iraq today.
