Truck spills diesel into Puyallup RiverPosted: Updated:
TACOMA, Wash. - Washington State Ecology investigators responded to an oil spill Sunday on the Puyallup River Bridge overpass on I-5 in Tacoma.
150 gallons of diesel spilled after a sem-truck crashed on the bridge. The Department of Transportation was able to recover about 35 gallons of fuel from the roadway but the rest spilled into the river.
The river is moving quickly due to rainfall overnight. Officials say most of the diesel will likely wash into Commencement Bay and could cause an oily sheen.
