Police release details of the arrestPosted: Updated:
At 11:42 p.m. Friday, a Cheney Police Officer stopped a gold Chevy Trailblazer for driving with defective tailights at 1st and Simpson Parkway in Cheney. The driver was identified as Josh heytvelt and the passenger as Theus Davis.
Officers smelled the odor of marijuana in the vehicle and a further investigation led to the arrest of both subjects while the vehicle was searched. Officers recovered a small amount of marijuana and an amount psychedelic mushrooms from the vehicle.
Both subjects were cooperative and booked into Spokane County Jail. Posession of marijuana is a gross misdemeanor carrying a maximum sentence of one year in jail and/or a $5,000 fine.
Posession of psychedelic mushrooms is a Class C Felony carrying a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
The incident is still under investigation.
