Zags lose by a single point in overtime

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - Chris Douglas-Roberts hit a layup with 5-and-a-half seconds left in overtime today as eighth-ranked Memphis edged Gonzaga, 78-77, in a men's college basketball game
in Spokane.

The Tigers led 76-to-75 on Jeremy Hunt's 3-pointer, but Hunt fouled Abdullahi Kuso with 17 seconds left and Kuso sank both free throws to put Gonzaga up 77-76 before Douglas-Roberts' winning shot.

Gonzaga's Jeremy Pargo hit a tying jumper with a minute remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime.

Gonzaga's Derek Raivio led all scorers with 21 points. Pargo had 17 and David Pendergraft had 11 for Gonzaga, whose record is now 18-and-10.

Joey Dorsey led the Tigers with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Gonzaga lost its second straight game without second-leading scorer and top rebounder Josh Heytvelt. He was indefinitely suspended after his arrest on drug possession charges with redshirt freshman Theo Davis on February ninth.
