Zags end final home game with a win

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga Bulldogs came back after losses in Spokane to Santa Clara and Memphis last week to beat the University of Portland Pilots 87 to 67 tonight in their final home game of the season.

Senior Derek Raivio had 20 points, while Kansas transfer Micah Downs added 19 for the Bulldogs. Freshman Parker Emerson scored a career-high 23 points for the Pilots, who dropped to 1 and 13 on the road this season.

The Bulldogs are now 9 and 3 in the West Coast Conference and, 19 and 10 overall. But their string of six straight WCC regular-season titles and eight consecutive NCAA tournament appearances could be in jeopardy depending on how they finish their season. They may have to win the WCC tournament in order to go to the NCAA tournament.

They wind up their schedule at University of San Francisco on Saturday and at University of San Diego next Monday night. The WCC tournament will be held at the University of Portland's Chiles Center March 3rd through the 5th.
