EUGENE, Oregon - 9th-ranked WSU led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but the Cougars lost 64 to 59 to 23rd-ranked Oregon Thursday night in Eugene, dimming their hopes of capturing their first regular-season Pac-10 championship.
With three conference games left on their schedule, the Cougars now trail 4 th-ranked UCLA in the conference race by two games with an 11-4 record. UCLA beat California Thursday night improving its league record to 13-2.
The loss broke the Cougs' five-game winning streak, despite leading 52-46 in the second half following a 9-0 scoring run.
Daven Harmeling scored 15 points and Kyle Weaver added 14 for the Cougars, who led 30-25 at halftime. This was the second loss against Oregon this season for Washington Statelosing 77-74 in an overtime loss at home earlier this season.
