EUGENE, Ore. (AP) _ No. 9 Washington State led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but the Cougars lost 64 to 59 to No. 23 Oregon tonight in Eugene to dim their hopes to capture their first Pac-10 regular-season championship.

With three Pac-10 games left on their schedule, the Cougars now trail No. 4 UCLA in the conference race by two games with an 11 and 4. UCLA beat California tonight to improve its league record to 13 and 2.

Tonight, the Cougars had a five-game winning streak broken despite leading 52 to 46 in the second half following a 9-0 run. Daven Harmeling had 15 points and Kyle Weaver added 14 for the Cougars, who led 30 to 25 at halftime.

Washington State lost to Oregon for the second time this season. The Ducks won 77 to 74 in overtime in Pullman.

SPOKANE, Wash. - "He told me to pull over, and my jaw just dropped," a Spokane woman, who says a fake police officer tried to pull her over, doesn't want to be named. In fear, this could happen again. "It really scared me and kind of threw me off that night. I don't even want to drive by myself anymore," she said. She tells me that she was driving around North Spokane at night on her way home from work.
