Drug charges dismissed against former fire boss Ellreese DanielsPosted: Updated:
EPHRATA, Wash. - Former U.S. Forest Service fire crew boss Ellreese Daniels cleared one legal hurdle, but still faces federal charges stemming from the deaths of four young firefighters. On Monday, Grant County dropped charges of marijuana and drug paraphernalia posession and quashed an arrest warrant for failure to appear.
He was cited by the Washington State Patrol on I-90 while on his way home from a federal arraignment in Spokane on January 4th.
Daniels, of Lake Wenatchee, is charged in U.S. District Court with involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of four firefighters in the 2001 Thirtymile Fire. He is also charged with seven counts of making false statements.
No reason was given for why the charges were dismissed.
