PORTLAND, Ore. - Heather Bowman scored 19 points and Stephanie Hawk added 15 today as Gonzaga beat Portland, 68-55, in the first round of the West Coast Conference women's basketball tournament.
Portland cut Gonzaga's lead to 42-39 six minutes into the second half, but the Bulldogs responded with a 13-2 run, including seven points from Bowman, to take a comfortable lead.
Hawk, who was the conference player of the year, hit 7-of-13 shots and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
