SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Washington State's inspiring season ended Saturday with a thriller, a 78-74 loss in double overtime to Vanderbilt in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.

Derrick Low scored 20 points to lead the Cougars, who finish the season with a 26-8 record. Derrick Byars scored 27 points and Shan Foster added 20 for Vanderbilt, which took control in the second overtime.

Byars hit five 3-pointers, and center Ted Skuchas opened the second OT with his first five points of the game for sixth-seeded Vanderbilt, which is headed to the round of 16 for the first time since 2004, and just the fourth time in 20 seasons.
