The Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders are ranked 16th in both Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Polls. The Blue Raiders have won 26 games in a row to help earn these rankings. The last time Middle Tennessee lost was on Nov. 26 when it dropped a 88-64 decision to then-No. 4 Tennessee.  >>

STANFORD, Calif. - Gonzaga got trounced today in the first round of the NCAA women's basketball tournament, losing to Middle Tennessee, 85-46.

Michelle Elliott scored 17 points and Katy Ridenour added 10 in her final college game for Gonzaga. But the Zags committed a season-high 37 turnovers and went nearly 11 minutes without a field goal in the first half.

The team finishes the season with a 24-10 record.

For Gonzaga, the West Coast Conference champion, getting to the tournament at all was something to celebrate. The men's team put the small Spokane school on the map in the late '90s but the women Zags had missed several opportunities in recent seasons to follow suit.

They were favored in 2005 but lost in the conference tournament final to Santa Clara.

The Gonzaga men's team also lost in the NCAA first round Thursday against Indiana.
