SEATTLE _ For anyone who might have a good home for a parakeet -- or two -- the Seattle Animal Shelter has more than their share up for adoption. They've found 110 of the birds in a man's one-bedroom apartment. Animal control officers responding to complaints from neighbors say the noise could be heard from the street. Authorities say the owner surrendered the birds, which were being kept in unsanitary conditions. They say the owner is a man in his 50s who had been collecting the parakeets for about five years. The birds will be offered to qualified adopters and no charges will be filed since the man cooperated with authorities.
