...and Naismith makes 6; WSU's Bennett given another national award

Posted: Updated:

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Naismith Award is considered by many to be the most prestigious prize in college basketball.  And now Washington State head coach Tony Bennett can say it's his.

Bennett was named the winner of the award by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.  It was to be formally presented to him on April 5th.

That makes six national awards for Bennett, who is in his first year as head coach at WSU.  Winning six awards moves him past the legendary John Wooden for the most honors by a PAC-10 coach in a single season.

Bennett was also named Coach of the Year by CollegeHoops.com on Tuesday.
