Fire at Vacant Building in Downtown Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash.--  At about 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, emergency crews responded to 161 Adams for a fire on top of the roof of the 4 story Borning building.   The fire was contained to a stack of lumber on the roof.  Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. 

The Building is under renovation and will be low income housing when it's completed.  Fire officials say that damage was confined to the material on the roof.  The cause of the fire was determined to be a pinched electrical cord.  30 firefighters and 2 personnel responded to this fire.  NO injuries were reported.  The fire caused about $1,000.00 worth of damage.

(AP) - A Colorado judge has denied a request by a defense attorney for a man accused of killing his wife and two daughters to require a coroner to collect DNA from the necks of the young girls. KMGH-TV and the Daily Camera newspaper in Boulder reported the judge said in an order he would not tell the medical examiner's office involved in the case how to do its job.
