MISSOULA, Mont. - Lake County authorities have released the name of 18-year-old Tasheena Craft who was killed Tuesday morning. Craft is the sister of Shonto Pete, the man shot by off-duty police officer Jay Olsen.
Officials say Tasheena Craft was found dead on a road near Arlee, with injuries indicating she was beaten and strangled. Undersheriff Jay Doyle says a cause of death will be determined at autopsy.
The suspect in her slaying, 19-year-old Kelly Burmingham, has been taken into custody. However, officers say he kicked out the window of a patrol car as he was being taken to jail, and landed on the pavement. He was receiving treatment for scrapes.
Doyle says they are investigating four crime scenes, including the woman's house, the suspect's pickup and the spot where her body was found.Officials say they do not know the relationship between the two. Burmingham faces charges of murder and attempted escape.
