  • Independent Living is described as being able to live on your own in a house or apartment without assistance.  Sometimes modifications are made to the home or apartment to make getting around the space easier.

  • Senior Housing Communities/Retirement Facilities are designed for people, age 55, and older. It is an ideal environment for people who are active, healthy, and able to live without assistance.  There is often some on site assistance with ground maintenance and security.

  • Assisted Living Facilities are designed to offer help and care  to people who are now having trouble performing some daily activities. Assisted living facilities are licensed by the state and rent apartments or units.
    These facilities offer care for people who have physical or cognitive impairments that interfere daily functions such as dressing, walking, and medication reminders.  The units have 24 hour emergency call system and 24 hour staff available.

  • Skilled Nursing Facilities are licensed by the state and provide 24-hour nursing care with at least one registered nurse on duty. The facility is equipped to deal with more intensive medical needs. This is the highest degree of nursing care outside of a hospital setting.

  • Adult Family Home - A home-style environment where up to six people live.  Meals are served, as well as planned activities, personal care, and help with medications.
