Brush fire investigation in East Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash - Fire crews are investigating about a 1 acre brush fire in Minnehaha park in East Spokane.  Fire Fighters report seeing several teenagers running from the area when they arrived, and at this time the fire appears suspicious.  Investigators say that multiple points of burn origin, indicating it was probably intentionally set.  Dry grass in the area caused the fire to spread quickly.

Fire investigators say the fire was reported at 7:21pm Monday night.  When crews arrived it only took them about 10 minutes to get under control, but crews remained at the scene for about an hour and a half putting out hot spots.

If caught, the person who started that fire could face felony charges.

Fifth graders Naylan Tuttle, Jack LeBreck, and Casey Dolan go through the steps necessary to make sure the U.S. flag is properly folded and stored without it ever touching the ground.
