SEATTLE, Wash. - The Mariners have a day off to enjoy sweeping Boston and extending their winning streak to five games. Seattle came out on top of Wednesday's 11-inning game, beating the Red Sox 2-1. J.J. Putz earned his 22nd save in 22 opportunities.
The homestand resumes Friday with a weekend series against Toronto. Seattle is just five games behind the Angels in the American League West.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. - Franklin County Sheriff's deputies say a man from Spokane who went swimming at Palouse Falls Saturday evening got pulled into deeper water and did not surface.
