Durant scores 18 points in Sonics' debut

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Rookie Kevin Durant scored 18 points to lead all scorers, but the Seattle SuperSonics lost to the Dallas Mavericks 77 to 66 on the first day of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas today.

The 6-foot-9 second overall pick in last month's NBA draft scored 13 of his points, including 11 in a row, in the second quarter. He shot just 5-of-17 from the field.

Sonics rookie forward Jeff Green, the fifth overall selection in the draft, had seven points, all in the first quarter.
